The Mountain Valley Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline that stretches over 300 miles from West Virginia to Virginia.  

The pipeline's construction has disrupted the ecosystem and natural habitats and deprive communities of their fundamental rights to clean air, water, and public safety. The pipeline affects numerous families and their properties, and many have protested against it. 

Protest songs are a powerful tool in fighting injustice because they raise awareness and can correct power imbalances.  An excellent example of this is Jonan’s protest song against Dominion Energy’s Atlantic Coast Pipeline.  The song was written in 2016.  That pipeline was ultimately canceled because of public pushback.   

But years and $10 billion later, the Mountain Valley Pipeline is was just finalized.  Congress just gave the green light in the recent budget compromise bill.
